Invitation to Writers... Share Your Story!
We know there are powerful, inspirational women around the country and around the world who are making a difference, with horses in their lives. Since this publication is for you and about you, we would like to invite your stories, photos, videos and discoveries knowing they could be just what inspires someone else to pursue their dream.
Whether it's your story or about someone you know, consider sending it to the Publisher at The StableWoman Gazette, so that we can pass it on to our readers. Let's celebrate our strength and pass it around.
The StableWoman Gazette – Guidelines for Publishing
Both amateur and professional writers and photographers are welcome to submit articles, stories and/or images.
We are looking for stories from the heart that honor the horse and it’s relationship to the women of all ages.
Articles and stories should be submitted in a text or Word document. Photos need to be a .jpg file, at least 640 (w) x 480 (h). All copyright laws must be obeyed and permission from the artist or author obtained before publishing is granted.
Would you like to write an article, blog or regular column that would interest our readers? Tell us about it.
See an interesting video story on "YouTube" or elsewhere on the internet about women and horses? Let us know by sending us the link and we'll review it for addition to our SWG YouTube channel.
Again, this magazine is for you and about you. We welcome your submissions, ideas and comments.
Submission Guidelines for COVER Shots
Call for Entries... COVER Shot Submissions: Do you have an image you would like to share with the SWG viewers?.....
Our COVER Shots gallery is a collective of the special photographs and artwork that has graced the COVER (home page) of The StableWoman Gazette since our inception in June of 2009.
The featured COVER Shot changes every two weeks. (Currently on Hold due to our website migration but will resume very soon. 7/2011
Cover images, whether a photograph, fine art creation, graphic illustration or even sculpture should depict a special connection or emotion toward women and the horses they love so much. Images of Women with horses are of course ideal, however images with only horses will be considered as well.
Our format prefers Horizontal images which need to be at least 640 pixels wide x 480 pixels high. We will however work with Vertical images too... Files should be a .jpg format. Accompanying quotes may also be submitted.
Images that are chosen for the cover will live indefinitely in the Cover Shots gallery with a credit and contact link to the artists website.
If you have a special image that you would like to submit for consideration for a future StableWoman Gazette COVER, please email the Publisher.
Submission Guidelines for Book/DVD Reviews
Book / DVD reviews should all follow a bit of a standard book review format, with a heading that includes the title, author, ISBN number, retail price, publication date, publisher, where it can be purchased and a bit at the end about the author, including the author's website where possible. Most of that comes straight from the inside cover of the book or a Google search of the author's name.
Reviewers might want to consider some or all of the following:
Opening the review with a quotation or a few lines that captures the reader's attention.
What is the author's main point or theme?
How well does the author write? You may use a brief quotation to illustrate your observations.
Who is the book for? - general horse lover, trainer, adult, young adult, beginner, experienced, etc.
Your personal opinion about the book and your favorite part.
A conclusion that ties the review together and provides a wrap-up comment.
Thank you for your personal participation in The StableWoman Gazette. We look forward to helping you share your articles, stories, images and reviews with our readers.
Nickers,
